Kate read Law at Cambridge and, after practicing as an IP specialist, moved into The City. Increasingly she realised that people are the key to successful organisations. She also found that she had a flair for enabling positive business transformation through people-led change, and establishing great cultures where individuals can thrive and give their best. Kate is passionate about aiding talented colleagues and contacts to develop, and providing a working environment that encourages learning and growth. She is a fellow of the CIPD and the RSA, and a mentor for the CIPD’s Aspiring HRD Programme. Kate has benefitted from a wide-ranging career with successful C-suite roles in global partnerships and PLCs, as well as in VC-backed organisations. She has experience of working with companies and people at all stages of growth and change.
Kate is a well-known spokesperson – frequently asked to present at conferences and events, in addition to commenting in podcasts and the media, including on the BBC’s The Bottom Line and PM, on topics ranging from business challenges, and personal transformation to ESG, culture, leadership, and diversity. Driven to make the world a better place, in addition to Gravita, she is a Trustee for DEMAT (a multi-academy trust with 39 schools across three counties) and a Board Advisor to Open Palm – a diversity charity seeking to improve the lives of young people in the UK by advancing education and promoting racial equality. She was a Governor for six years at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust and is on the CISI’s Integrity and Ethics Committee. Kate was one of the 100 women awarded the Freedom of the City to commemorate the centenary of women’s suffrage. Equality, respect and providing a place where people can be themselves and thrive in an environment that chimes with their values, are all crucial to Kate. She takes pride in helping others to achieve their dreams within commercially successful businesses. We are thrilled that she chose to join Gravita as our Chief People Officer.
