National Payroll Week: Meet the experts behind your payroll

Published on:  07 September 2026

Payroll is one of the most important functions in any business, but much of the expertise and work that goes on behind the scenes can often go unnoticed.

This National Payroll Week, we’re shining a spotlight on the people who help businesses ensure their employees are paid accurately, on time and in line with ever-changing legislation.

At Gravita, we know payroll is about far more than processing payslips. It’s about giving business owners confidence that one of the most important functions within their organisation is being managed by experienced professionals.

From statutory payments and pension obligations to complex employment structures and international payroll, our specialists bring the knowledge and practical support businesses need to stay compliant and keep payroll running smoothly.

Meet the people behind our payroll team

Our payroll team brings together specialists with experience across a wide range of sectors and payroll requirements. Whether it’s supporting an international employer entering the UK, helping a hospitality business manage a tronc scheme, or navigating the specific requirements of a charity payroll, our team understands that no two businesses are the same.

Rebecca Aimey, Payroll Director – London

Rebecca leads Gravita’s payroll team and has extensive experience supporting businesses with complex payroll requirements.

She has particular expertise in helping foreign employers operating in the UK, supporting international businesses with their UK payroll obligations and providing the confidence that their local requirements are being managed correctly.

Melanie Gower, Payroll Manager – London

Melanie is our go-to specialist for tronc schemes, supporting businesses, particularly those in the hospitality sector, with the effective management of tips, gratuities and service charges.

She also specialises in PAYE registrations, HMRC reconciliations and resolving HMRC-related issues, helping businesses address payroll and tax matters efficiently and with confidence.

Helen Corthorn, Manager – SouthWest

Helen oversees the smooth delivery of payroll services and supports clients with some of the more complex areas of payroll.

Her specialist knowledge includes Benefits in Kind and payrolled benefits, helping employers understand their reporting responsibilities and manage their obligations effectively.

Lavinia Amariei, Manager – Oxford

Lavinia specialises in statutory payments, including Statutory Sick Pay, Statutory Maternity Pay and Statutory Paternity Pay.

She helps employers understand their responsibilities and ensures employees receive the payments and support they are entitled to, while helping businesses remain compliant with the relevant requirements.

Jaspreet Bassi, Manager – Essex

Jaspreet brings extensive knowledge and expertise in pensions, helping organisations manage complex pension requirements and meet their obligations accurately and efficiently.

Her support gives clients confidence that their pension responsibilities are being handled correctly, while reducing the administrative burden that can come with managing them in-house.

Ben Swinson, Manager – Bristol

Ben specialises in charity-focused payrolls, supporting organisations with the specific requirements and complexities of the charity sector.

He also provides specialist support on pension arrangements, helping charities manage auto-enrolment requirements and ongoing pension administration while ensuring everything is handled accurately and compliantly.

More than just payroll processing

Payroll legislation and requirements continue to evolve, and even small errors can create unnecessary cost, administration and stress.

That’s why many businesses choose to outsource their payroll or work with a specialist team they can rely on.

At Gravita, we work as an extension of our clients’ teams, combining technical expertise with practical advice. We take the time to understand how each organisation operates and tailor our support to its individual needs.

For some businesses, that means taking care of payroll from start to finish. For others, it might mean providing specialist advice on a particular issue or helping resolve a complex payroll requirement.

Whatever the need, our approach remains the same: providing an accurate, compliant and responsive service that gives our clients confidence.

Supporting businesses at every stage

As a top 40 accountancy and business advisory firm, Gravita supports businesses and organisations across the UK with the specialist advice they need to thrive.
